P
hil Nagy is an Ottawa-based writer and storyteller. He is married with two children and a growing number of grandchildren. His early career was as a teacher of high school mathematics and science. He distressed his family and bank manager by abandoning this and going back to graduate school at age thirty. He is now retired from a career teaching graduate students how to do research and analyze data.

The fiction writing started about the time he retired. He has finished two novels, and is working on a third. As well, he has amassed a collection of short stories, most written to be told aloud in traditional storytelling fashion. He is an active member of Ottawa StoryTellers (www.ottawastorytellers.ca)

His first novel, Up Deedle Creek, is a gentle satire of country life and rural politics. His second novel, A Degree of Truth, is a somewhat less gentle satire of life at a small university. Like all fiction, both have a basis in the author’s reality, either as a cottage-owner or a university professor. The details, of course, are entirely fictional.

His current novel, reasonably close to being finished, is tentatively titled Osceola Street. It is the story of two men seeking to change their lives as they approach middle age.

Both Up Deedle Creek and A Degree of Truth are available now. Click on Order Information for details.
